History
In the second half of 19th century Russia came into the period of rapid industrial development..
It was Ekatirinoslavskaya province (since 1926 Dnepropetrovsky region), where mainly was concentrated all indusrty of the South of the country thus providing rapid growth of industry in this region.
Ekaterininoslavskaya railway station, built in 1884, connected Donetsk coal basin and Krivoy Rog iron ore basin. It ran near village of Kamenskoye (since 1917 town of Kamenskoye, since 1936 - town of Dneprodzerzhinsk). Geographical position of the village (with its limitless water resources) created the necessary prerequisites for the construction of large metallurgical plant.
South Russian Dneprovsky metallurgical society began such construction in spring of 1887. The society was founded by amalgamation of Warsaw Steel-makihg Society and Belgium Company Kokeril in May 1886. 27 % of its capital belong to Fnench partners. Therefore spring of 1887 - is the date of birth of Dneprovsky Iron and Steel plant (sinve 1984 - Integrated Works).
